Freedom Festival

Onslow Pines Park

July 4, 2-9 p.m.

 Onslow County Parks and Recreation will celebrate its 37th Annual Freedom Festival on July 4th, 2020.  Come out for a day of fun activities for children, listen to music on two stages, browse and shop vendor booths, and enjoy tasty treats from a variety of food vendors. Featured artists include local county artist Bryan Mayer, beach favorites with The Carousels, and acoustic duo Wild Honey. Beach music artists, North Tower Band taking the main stage at 5 p.m. The event will culminate with the much-anticipated fireworks at 9 p.m.

Tips for a Great Fourth of July

  •  Arrive early 
  • Coolers welcome, no glass containers
  • Grills are allowed in the tree area between the festival area and the little league ballfield/concession area
  • Lost children and lost and found located at the information booth
  • Restrooms-located at the information booth, concession stand by the ballfields, and portable toilets throughout the festival area
  • Our parks are pet-friendly, but for this event, dogs are not allowed
  • Alcohol is not allowed
  • Shuttles begin at 6 p.m.; shuttle pickups/drop-offs will be at the Harley Davidson and the Onslow County Parks and Recreation Administrative Office.

Bryan Mayer

With his towering height and powerful voice, Bryan Mayer, is making a BIG impact on the Country music scene. The 6’8” NC native is one of the most promising talents emerging from the southeast. Having already had 3 songs off his debut album “This Is Me” reach the Country charts, including the title track becoming a Top 100 on the Billboard Country Indicator charts.  Bryan has played all over the country especially in the Southeast and Midwest. He is very proud to call North Carolina his home and has performed in some of the biggest venues in the Tar Heel state.  

The Carousels 

The Carousel Band combines the talents of Henry Jones, David Terry, and Rick Dixon with more than 40 years of performing and playing various styles of music from Beach, Country, Motown, and Top-40 hits. The band has a unique style of vocals that blend well together providing perfect lead and harmonies. The Carousels have performed on stage with beach music favorites The Platters, The Embers, and The Band of Oz.

Wild Honey

Wild honey is an acoustic music duo based out of Swansboro, North Carolina. They have been playing their Americana mix of pop, blues/boogie, country rock and folk since 2009, performing 60+ shows a year. They are equally at home whether it is playing softer music for dinner or rocking at a pub and have developed a large fan base of people from all backgrounds and ages. The duo is comprised of Angie Cooper on vocals and rhythm guitar and matt miller. Matt also sings and plays an assortment of instruments including guitar, mandolin, dobro, and harmonica. Their down-home yet refined blend of old and new connects with audiences through its honest feel...earthy and sweet:  wild honey. 

North Tower

North tower is celebrating 40 years of entertaining crowds throughout the southeast. North Tower has been one of the south’s great party bands for over 40 years, providing the best in Top 40, beach, funk and oldies. Sizzling brass, super vocals, and a wide-ranging repertoire all contribute to making the event a night to remember!
