Meet our Certified Nurse Midwife, Haley Smith. She is a 2013 graduate of Shawnee State University in Southern Ohio. As a registered nurse, she served at the Lewis County Health Department in many roles. It was there that she developed a passion for public health and specifically women’s health. In 2018 she completed a Masters in Nurse-Midwifery. During her midwifery education she trained in full-scope nurse-midwifery care. Which includes caring for women prenatally, during birth, the postpartum period, primary care, newborn care and gynecologic care. After graduation, she served as a Nurse Midwife at a free-standing birth center in the Rio Grande Valley on the Texas-Mexico border.
In January 2019 Haley joined us at Onslow County Health Department. You can find her in our Women’s Health and STD clinics. Haley supports patient centered healthcare. She is especially passionate about teen pregnancy prevention, minority healthcare, and preconception counseling. When not at work; Haley enjoys playing with her puppy, face-timing her nephews, listening to true crime podcasts, and spending time with her friends.
