Due to COVID-19, we will not be scheduling any Book-A-Librarian sessions until the fall.
Book-A-Librarian sessions are prescheduled, 30-minute appointments with a library staff member who will provide you with one-on-one technology and reference assistance. Sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each patron. Assistance is currently available on Tuesdays from 10:00-11:00 am and 6:00-7:00 pm.
Library staff can help with:
- Creating an email account
- Internet & social media basics
- Other computer basics
- Finding and using digital resources on the library's website
- Browsing and using the library's catalog
- Downloading eBooks and eAudiobooks
- Research questions
- Book picks
- And more!
Appointments are required.
Please be aware that library staff cannot offer advice (except to refer you to reputable sources of information) or provide data entry for medical, legal, financial, business, or personal transactions (contracts, agreements, enrollments, applications, online purchases, travel bookings, etc.) Also we are unable to set up, install, or troubleshoot software on your personal devices except when it relates to library resources.

Who is eligible to make an appointment?
This service is available to both adult OCPL card holders and adult non-card holders.
Where do I go?
Please come to the Main Library in Jacksonville and let a staff member at the Public Services/Circulation Desk know that you have arrived for your Book-A-Librarian appointment.
How long is each session?
Each appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes. If more time is needed, you are welcome to book two 30-minute sessions back-to-back if availability allows.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
You can cancel or reschedule through the Book-A-Librarian form or call 910.455.7350, ext. 1421 as soon as you can.
