Come out to Onslow Pines Park for a ghoulish good time at the Monster Bash on October 20, from 4-10 p.m. There will be Halloween themed games and activities for children, and a costume contest for children, adults, and your four-legged friend. Enter the one or all Monster Bash tournaments (Cornhole, Soccer Darts, and Cosmic Dodgeball). Tournaments are open to participants ages 6-17, cost is $15 per participant, and fee includes entry to all tournaments and a T-shirt. After all the fang-tastic activities, you can relax with a movie under the stars.
Trunk or Treat, 4 p.m
Dress in costume, decorate your vehicle and join the fun at the Monster Bash. Monster Bash provides a safe and fun way for families to enjoy Halloween!
Prizes for Most Creative Trunk
All cars and trucks are welcome. Trunkie’s must provide candy for at least 500 youth

Bow-Wow-Ween Costume Contest
Princess for Paws will host the Bow-Wow-Ween dog and the two-legged costume contests. There will be three categories for dogs to compete in Sugar N' Spice & Everything Nice, Toil & Trouble, and Superheroes vs. Villains.
The costume contest will have six age divisions: Ages 2 and under, ages 3-5, ages 6-8, ages 9-12, ages 13-17, and 18 and up. Contestants will be able to pre-register at the Princess for Paws website http://www.princessforpaws.org/, register on site, or download the application and bring with you to the event.
Onslow County Out of the Darkness Walk
Walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks on October 13 to join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. Online registration closes at noon on Friday, October 12. Participants can register on site beginning at 10:30 a.m. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

City to the Sea Bike Ride
September 30, 2 p.m.
A great way to cool down from hot summer temperatures is to hop on your bike and ride to the coast. Onslow County is partnering with the Bicycle Shop to host a 21-mile bike ride from the city to the sea on September 30 at 2 p.m. The ride will begin at Food Lion parking lot on Piney Green and end at Swansboro Municipal Park with refreshments, fellowship, and prizes. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but if you miss online registration you can register the day of the event at 1:30 p.m. Event is free and open to everyone. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Riders must provide return transportation. It is recommended that all riders be in good physical condition and that all use proper safety equipment including bike helmets.
Due to the hurricane, we are unable to end the ride at Hammocks Beach State Park. The ride will end at Swansboro Municipal Park at the park shelter on Recreation Way. Special thanks to Swansboro Parks and Recreation for providing a space to end this annual event.

Onslow County Parks and Recreation will celebrate the 4th annual NC Polynesian Festival. It's a highly-anticipated summer event in Onslow County! Bring the whole family experience the Islands of the South Pacific with dancing, music and more! There will be a variety of vendors featuring traditional Polynesian crafts and food. This two day event begins Friday, July 27 and continues through July 28 at Onslow Pines Park

35TH ANNUAL FREEDOM FESTIVAL
July 4, 2-9 p.m. @ Onslow Pines Park
Onslow County Parks and Recreation will celebrate its 35th Annual Freedom Festival on July 4th, 2019. Come out for a day of fun activities for children, listen to music on two stages, browse and shop vendor booths, and enjoy tasty treats from a variety of food vendors. Jim Quick and the Coastline will kick off the main stage at 5 p.m. The event will culminate with the much-anticipated fireworks at 9 p.m.
