If you want to dig deeper into eastern North Carolina's geologic history, be sure to visit the Museum's outdoor classroom, the Richard Tellekamp Fossil Find. This area, located behind the Museum building, contains reject ore courtesy of the PCS Phosphate Mines in Aurora. Fossil hunting is a fun and hands-on way of learning about the marine creatures and mammals that once inhabited the Coastal Plain.
