Youth Programs

A variety of youth lessons, workshops and programs are offered throughout the year at various locations. From youth swimming lessons to art camp, everyone is sure to find something.

Zumba in the Park
October 7 and 21, 9 a.m.
Zumba is a high-energy workout that incorporates Latin and international music. Join us for a workout that will feel more like a dance party; you will leave feeling fit and happy! Class is $5 per participant

 

Halloween Hoopla
October 20, 5-10 pm

Come out to Onslow Pines Park for a ghoulish good time at Halloween Hoopla on October 20, 2017 from 5-10 p.m. Play a round of cosmic boo-ball (glow in the dark dodgeball), bring your four-legged friend and enter the Bow-Wow-Ween Dog Costume Contest, enter the costume contest, and unwind with a movie under the stars. The Bow-Wow-Ween Dog Costume Contest will have three categories for dogs to compete in: Sugar N' Spice & Everything Nice, Toil & Trouble, and Superheroes vs. Villains. The costume contest will have seven categories: Ages 2 and under, ages 3-5, ages 6-8, ages 9-12, ages 13-17, and 18 and up. The event will conclude with a showing of “Frankenwennie” and begins at 8:30 p.m. 

Bow-Wow-Ween Dog Costume Contest
October 20, 6 p.m.
Registration begins at 5 p.m.

There'll be three categories for dogs to compete in: Sugar N' Spice & Everything Nice, Toil & Trouble, and Superheroes vs. Villains. Contestants will be able to pre-register at the Princess for Paws website http://www.princessforpaws.org/

In order to continue to support Service Dogs in our community, we ask that contestants donate a dog toy(s) worth $5, (5) cans of dog food, or make a $5 donation to Princess for Paws. All toys and food will be donated to the Onslow County Animal Shelter. All monetary donations will go towards Princess for Paws to help support Veterans and families in need of Service Dogs.

Movie in the Park
October 20, 8:30 p.m.
Onslow Pines Park

Join Onslow Parks and Recreation for a family friendly Halloween movie at Onslow Pines Park on October 20. Onslow County Parks and Recreation will feature a showing of “Frankenwennie”. Movie is free, open to the public, and showing will begin at 8:30 p.m. Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chair. Coolers welcome, no glass containers.
