Lionell Midgett retired in 1989 from First Citizens Bank, ending a 32-year career with the bank that began in 1957 aboard Camp Lejeune. When he retired, Midgett was the Senior Vice President in charge of the Automation Division; a division with a staff of 400 and $14 million budget. Midgett spent his childhood in Sneads Ferry and currently resides in the Verona area with his wife of 47 years, Sudie Padgett Midgett. The Midgett’s have two grown children and five grandchildren. Mr. Midgett served on the Surf City Town Council from 1991 to 1995 and is currently serving his second term with the Onslow County Board of Commissioners.
Commissioner Midgett serves as the board's appointee to the Eastern Carolina Council of Government's Executive Committee, the ECC Down East RPO Transportation Advisory Committee, the Jacksonville Metropolitan Planning Organization, liaison to the NCACC and Tourism Advisory Committee.
