Onslow County Public Library (OCPL) is proud to be among over 160 public libraries nationwide awarded funding by the Public Library Association (PLA) to conduct digital literacy workshops using digitallearn.org resources. The PLA Digital Literacy Workshop Incentive, supported by AT&T, provides support to libraries of all sizes to conduct digital literacy training in their communities and help close the digital divide.
The library is using Digital Learn to change the lives of their patrons by providing them with the guidance they need to navigate technological challenges at their own pace. Jennifer Whaley, Library Director, says the program instructors work with the patrons in small groups in order to provide one-on-one style support to best meet the needs of each individual. Whaley states, “We are thrilled to be awarded this funding and excited to use it to help members in our very own community sharpen their technology skills. OCPL's mission is to enrich, empower, and inspire our patrons to be confident when using technology by providing the tools they need to succeed."
The library has upcoming courses at the Jacksonville Branch on November 16th and January 23rd at 10 AM and at the Swansboro Branch on January 13th and February 3rd at 10 AM. Visit OCPL’s Programs and Events page for more information.
