1. Do you have to have a library card to participate?

No! Anybody that registers on the ReadSquared app can participate in the winter reading challenge! Even if you're not an Onslow County resident!

2. What ages can participate?

All ages! The Winter Reading Challenge is open to children and adults! When you register, simply enter the group the participate identifies with (Preschool, children or Teens/Adults).

3. Do I have to create a new account since I did the Summer Reading Program?

If you have already created a family account for ReadSquared, all you have to do is log in and enroll each individual in the program they'll be participating in.

4. What do I do if I can't remember my password?

That's an easy fix! You can click the link under the login to get a password reset emailed to you, or you can call the library and our team would be happy to help get it reset for you!

5. Do I need an account for each participant?

No.  When you create your account on ReadSquared, you will create a family account.  Once your account is created, you'll be able to "add readers." Then you can manage all of the participants from one account. 

6. How do I access ReadSquared?

There are multiple ways to access ReadSquared.  You can access it from any web browser at: https://ocpl.readsquared.com OR search ReadSquared from the Apple or Google Play store and download the app.

7. What happens when I max out on the challenges?

When you complete the program, you will be able to download your certificate for completing the program but keep logging! All of your minutes and points continue to add up so you're eligible to win more prizes!

8. Can I print the books I've read?

You can print your logging history.  When you log, if you've put the title in, it will display the book, if not, it will only display the minutes read. 

To access your Logging History:

1. Login to ReadSquared.
2. Click "Logging History" in the menu.
3. Choose the reader you'd like to print the list for and click "Change."
4. Click Print in the blue bar options.

9. What do I log?

When participating in the Winter Reading Challenge, all participants will log minutes read.  It is optional for you to log the book title but go for it if you want to track what you've read!

10. Is there assigned reading?

No.  If you're looking for ideas, check out the recommended reading on the webpage, but participants can log any reading or book they choose! You can read books, journals, cereal boxes, a magazine, listen to an audiobook; we just want to promote literacy, the library, and a LOVE of reading! Make it fun for your children; read with funny voices, squeeze the cereal box open and closed to mimic a mouth reading the ingredients!
