I would like to adopt. What is the process?

Thank you for choosing adoption! Than you for your patience during Covid-19 as our adoption process has been changed to better serve you at this time. All meet & greets/adoptions will be by appointment only. We recommend visiting our website at https://www.onslowcountync.gov/186/Animals to view our currently adoptable animals.  To schedule an appointment, please call after 8:00am Tuesday - Saturday. Adoption appointments are available between 12:00pm and 4:00pm Tuesday - Friday and 10:00am to 3:30pm Saturday. During your appointment, you will be given time to interact with our animals to find the perfect fit. Staff is always happy to answer any questions you may have and try to assist you in finding a good match. Once you have selected your new furry family member, we will need you to complete an adoption contract. Cash and cards are accepted for adoption fee payment, and we will need a valid drivers license or military ID. Adoption fees for dogs are $140 and include core vaccinations, 30-day flea & tick treatment, basic dewormer, heartworm test, sppay/neuter and microchip. Cat adoptions are $100 and include core vaccinations, 30-day flea & tick treatment, basic dewormer, spay/neuter and microchip.  Once the contract is complete, you may bring your new friend home!
