  • The Onslow County Minimum Housing Office is complaint driven. When a tenant/owner calls or visits our office with a complaint this puts our office in action.

The Housing Code Officer performs investigations and gathers facts to either validate the complaint or show that the complaint is not a minimum housing issue.  If the complaint is validated, the responsible party is contacted with the findings and given an opportunity to make corrections.  If the property is not brought into compliance, the Housing Code Officer may begin legal proceedings.  In cases of immediate danger the Housing Officer has the authority to post the property unsafe for human habitation.
