  • Community Health Assessment

  • The Community Health Assessment (CHA) is a survey of county residents taken every four years.  It allows the Health Department to understand what residents see as the most important health issues affecting the community.  It provides the foundation for improving and promoting good health in our community.  Onslow County’s 2012 CHA showed that community members are concerned about tobacco use and being overweight or obese.

The Onslow County Health Department’s goal is to assist community members to be their healthiest.  The Health Department does this by providing care, education, and resources so that each person in the community can meet his or her health goals.

Eat less when eating out, by ordering from the menu instead of heading for the buffet line. Many people overeat at buffets. Getting a plate of food, instead of unlimited access to food, may help you eat less. Don't forget that you don't have to clean your plate!
