
Homebound service is provided by the Onslow County Public Library to library patrons who have a physical or medical condition that restricts their ability to leave their residence. We can checkout and deliver library materials right to your door and will return with new materials every three weeks for your reading, viewing or listening pleasure.
Homebound services is available to persons who meet the following criteria as established by the Onslow County Public Library Board of Trustees. These criteria are similar to the Medicare Home Health restrictions and the Meals on Wheels guidelines.
A recipient of this service must:
Be a senior citizen (age 60 or older) who has no means of getting to a library facility OR
Have a condition resulting from an injury or illness restricting their ability to leave their residence except with the aid of supporting devices or the assistance of another person; or has a condition that is such that it is medically contraindicated.
Temporary homebound service can be provided to persons who are suffering from extreme weakness after surgery or illness. Such persons must be incapacitated for at least six (6) weeks and need a doctor’s certification.
