Emergency Assistance

Emergency Assistance is designed to assist with families’ sporadic emergency needs, such as a utility cut-off (electric or water) or an eviction notice.  The family must have a child, within a certain degree of kinship, living in the home.  Emergency Assistance is a one-time per year (12 consecutive months) payment up to a limit of $600.00.

Crisis Intervention Program (CIP)/ Low Income Energy Assistance (LIEAP)

CIP is a program for households in a heating or cooling related emergency who have income less that 150% of the poverty level.  Eligible households get up to $600 assistance to buy fuel or to pay the electric or gas bill.  LIEAP is a program that pays a check, once a year, to eligible low-income households to help with their heating bills.  Applications are taken once a year in the fall.  Many families getting Food Stamps receive this check automatically, without a separate application.

For more information, please call (910)219-1830.
