Emergency Services and Homeland Security - About Us

The Department of Emergency Services and Homeland Security was created to enhance emergency response to, planning for and recovery from major emergencies that may occur in Onslow County.

Consolidated under one department is the  Emergency 911 Communications Center, Emergency Management Office, Emergency Medical Services, and the Fire Marshal's Office.  The Emergency Service and Homeland Security Department coordinates with 9 volunteer rescue squads, 20 volunteer fire departments and several community emergency response teams such as the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

These agencies work together to provide the citizens of Onslow County with complete and unified emergency service during a major incident, weather emergency or other unforeseen threat to life and property.
