As Chairman of the Onslow County Board of Commissioners, I am faced every day with making challenging, informed decisions that impact the citizens of our great County and the operations of Onslow County Government. These deliberations are not made in a vacuum. In my last letter to the citizens, I highlighted the distinguished tasks taken on by some of our key administrators. As we continue to recognize our remarkable employees, I would like to introduce you to four staff members that contribute a tremendous amount of service to our Governing Board and the citizens of Onslow County.

Ms. Sheri Slater, Assistant County Manager, oversees the Consolidated Human Services Agency and several other departments throughout the County, to include the Albert J. Ellis Airport. Ms. Slater had an instrumental role in developing the Dix Crisis Center. Her expertise has been integral in Onslow County’s commitment to addressing mental health and substance abuse. During this pandemic, Ms. Slater has been directly involved in the COVID-19 testing and data analysis in collaboration with the Consolidated Human Services staff.

Mr. Ben Warren, Assistant County Manager, oversees various County departments to include Planning and Development, Animal Services, and Parks and Recreation. Planning and Development is one of the most critical aspects of organized growth and protection of property rights. Our Animal Services Department has been leading change for the past couple of years. As situations present themselves, transformations are implemented to ensure the best service is provided to our citizens. Mr. Warren continues to initiate change to make pet ownership and owner reclamations more pleasant.

Ms. Angela Hoffman, Executive Assistant to the County Manager, has many roles. She provides administrative support to the County Manager and serves as the liaison for all twenty-six County departments. Ms. Hoffman organizes and oversees essential County meetings, trainings, and professional events. She provides a notable service to the Administration staff, Board of Commissioners, and the citizens.

Ms. Crystal Humphrey, Administrative Assistant for County Administration, serves on the Government Center’s front line. Many of you will recognize Ms. Humphrey for her outstanding customer service at the Government Center front desk, where she greets and directs citizens to various departments to handle their County business. Ms. Humphrey is a valuable asset to our organization and citizens.

These named employees are just a few within Onslow County Government that are making a difference in our County. The staff provide an invaluable service and do so with honor and pride. Thank you, Onslow County citizens, for your support of Onslow County Government. Please be safe, and don’t hesitate to call for information if needed.
