Fire & Rescue Agencies

Who We Are


We provide fire protection, all types of rescue services, haz-mat incidents, as well as public education. We maintain this level of service through training. Agency affiliation allows individuals to receive continuing education training at no cost to them, through the community college system of North Carolina. 

We have 18 volunteer fire departments (3 that include rescue capabilities) and 4 volunteer rescue squads. View the Fire Response Districts for Onslow County by clicking on the image to the right.

What We Do



We are a group dedicated volunteers in fire and rescue services . Our role is to help save lives and protect property. We serve as receiving point for individuals who wish to volunteer with fire and rescue agencies throughout Onslow County. Each agency has their own protocols concerning membership.

It is the intent of Onlow County Emergency Services to assist fire and rescue departments across Onslow County fill the ever challenging need of recruiting and retaining Volunteer Firefighters and Rescue Technicians. Regardless of experience we have a place for you!

IF YOU ARE LIVING ON A MILITARY BASE, CURRENTLY THERE ARE A LIMITED NUMBER OF FIRE DEPARTMENTS THAT ALLOW ON BASE VOLUNTEERS. There are however additional needs listed on the Volunteer Onslow website. These include opportunities with agencies like the United Way's Volunteer Coordination Team in time of disaster or Sheep Dog Impact Assistance.
