Effective July 1, 2021 there will be a Household Hazardous Waste Tipping Fee of $80 per ton with a $0.80 minimum.
Onslow County Solid Waste hosts two collection events a year for Residential Household Hazardous Waste. The next upcoming collection event will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Please make sure to arrive to the landfill between those hours in order to fall within our permit restrictions.
We offer this service for our citizens in order to divert waste from our Landfill and make sure our environment is kept safe from potential hazards and toxins. Due to regulations and collection permits, we are currently only able to hold these events certain times a year, for a small period of time. We also partner with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and the Onslow County Sheriff's Department for disposal of pesticides, herbicides, and prescription drugs.
Common Household Hazardous Items:
- paint and paint related material
- pool chemicals

if citizens have over 10 gallons of gasoline/diesel/kerosene to recycle, we ask that you save those for an upcoming Household Hazardous Waste day.
