COVID-19 General Information & Facility Updates

Onslow County is continuing to respond to the current and potential impact of COVID-19 in our community.  We are following guidelines and taking steps to prevent the spread of illness at our government facilities and throughout the County.  In an effort to practice social distancing, please refer to the information below regarding reduced services and closings.

The public is asked to access County services by phone or online where applicable, and adhere to social distancing guidelines that are in place.  

If you are concerned or have any additional questions regarding COVID-19 in Onslow County, we have activated our Citizens Phone Bank, (910) 989-5027 for calls.  At this time they are open 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday.  Use the following sites for additional information regarding the virus.

Cooperative Extension

Court Systems
  • Open to the public with special guidelines.
  • Citizens can access court calendars, inquire on court dates, request dismissal of DMV related citations such as vehicle registration violations and no operator’s license, pay many traffic citations, and make probation payments online.

  • For map related information (ownership, values, etc) our customers are encouraged to view this online via our map interface.
  • Specialized maps, customers can call (910) 937-1190 or email their request. A PDF version could then be created and emailed to the customer prior to printing a hard copy version.

Museum

The Museum is open to the public.

  • Virtual tours and online resources available to those interested.
  • Museum Operating Hours: Monday through Friday, 8AM-5PM, Saturday 10AM-5PM
  • Groups can scheduled guided tours for the Museum, Environmental Education Center or Pelletier House
  • Appointments are requested for the historical research room

Parks & Recreation

All beaches and playgrounds are now open to the public.

  • Parks will be closed at 9AM and 3PM daily for thorough cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Parks remain open. We just ask that you maintain physical distancing while enjoying our parks. Be safe!

Register of Deeds

Register of Deeds is completely open to the public.

  • Normal hours are 8AM-5PM, with the exception that recordings and issuing of marriage license stops promptly at 4:30PM each day.
  • Please call (910) 347-3451 for any questions about marriage licenses, birth certificates, notary oaths, recorded deeds, surveys, etc.

Social Services

  • Alternative to visiting DSS, economic services can be applied online for food and nutrition benefits as well as Medicaid.
Soil & Water
Tax Office
  • Office is open to the public. 
  • The Drop Box is still active . The Drop Box is located near the entrance to the Onslow County Government Center for Citizens to drop off tax forms, payments (no cash please), and other correspondence or documents, such as property tax relief applications.

Senior Services
  • All Programs have returned to normal operations
  • Doors open at 7:30AM for hall walkers
  • Senior Center opens at 8AM for scheduled activities

Sheriff’s Office
  • Restricted entry to the main lobby of the Sheriff’s Office to only those with business that requires entry.
  • Suspended inmate visitation until further notice.
  • Suspended non-essential fingerprinting, including suspending fingerprinting for conceal carry applications.
  • Pistol purchase permits will still be processed by applicant contact for payment and identification will be conducted at the service window of the main lobby area with applicants not entering the Sheriff’s office.
