A variety of youth lessons, workshops and programs are offered throughout the year at various locations. From youth swimming lessons to art camp, everyone is sure to find something.

Movie in the Park
August 17, Stump Sound Park
Games and Activities 7:00 p.m.

Movie begins at sunset
Relax, unwind, and watch a movie under the stars at Stump Sound Park on August 17.  The fun begins at 7:00 with themed games and activities. Onslow County Parks and Recreation will feature a showing of “The Incredibles”.   Movie is free, open to the public, and showing will begin at sunset. Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chair.  Coolers welcome, no glass containers.

Medieval Art Camp
August 20-24
Onslow Pines Park

Onslow County Parks and Recreation is partnering with Coastal Carolina Artists and Crafters Guild to offer a Medieval Art Camp August 20-24, 2018. All supplies are included, cost is $75 per child. Ages 8-14. Campers will have the opportunity to experience Medieval life: castles, costumes, and customs. Students are asked to bring: lunch and 2 snacks per day and wear clothing that can get dirty.

Storytime in the Park

Kiwanis Pavilion Onslow Pines Park

Onslow County’s Parks and Recreation and Public Library are teaming up to bring you Storytime in the park! This FREE interactive story time is for kids of all ages and their families. Join us on August 23, 10 a.m. at the Kiwanis Pavilion in Onslow Pines Park. This program will take place at the covered pavilion rain or shine. Registration is recommended.

Onslow County Parks and Recreation will be offering swimming lessons this summer for children up to 12 years of age.  Instructor Dawn Brown has been teaching lessons for more than 25 years and is excited to offer lessons once again. Classes will be offered for ages 4-8, $60 per person; minimum of four to hold the class. Lessons will be held at the Triangle Motor Inn; class size is limited so pre-register early to guarantee a spot. Listed below are the age groups and levels.

Age Groups

Water Exploration: Ages 1-3 years (with parent)
Jellyfish: Preschool ages 3-5
Guppies: ages 5-6 beginner
Minnows: Ages 5 -7 can float, put face in water and glide with kick
Sharks: Ages 8 and over with basic front crawl and backstroke
