Please be aware as of July 1, 2018 there will be several updates to our residential inspection process in order to ensure further consistency with House Bill 120. They are outlined below:
- We will no longer be requiring temporary power inspections as part of our traditional application package, as it is not one of the eight inspections required by Section 107 of the NC Administrative Codes and Policies. If you would like a temporary power inspection, please inform the permitting technician at the time of the application submittal or this may be performed later in the inspection process, if requested. They will provide you with a temporary power application and incorporate it into your inspection workflow. This service will be provided for a fee of $50.00. Additionally, you will be provided with a “Wiring Integrity” form to be filled out by your licensed electrician and kept onsite for your temporary inspection. Both of these documents have been attached for your convenience.
- Please note, inspections will be entered in our systems using terminology consistent with Section 107 of the NC Administrative Codes and Polices. “Plumbing in the Slab” will now be recorded as “Under Slab” inspections for each specific trade and “Open Ditch” inspections will now be called “Underground” inspections for each specific trade.
Both the temporary power and wiring integrity forms can be found here.
Questions about these changes may be directed to the Central Permitting Supervisor at Ronald_Beswetherick@onslowcountync.gov or (910) 989-3077.
