Onslow County Board of Commissioners' Meeting

The Onslow Board of Commissioners will elect a chairman as part of their annual organizational meeting set for 11AM, Monday, December 6, 2021 in the Commissioners’ Chambers at the Onslow County Government Center, 234 NW Corridor Blvd, Jacksonville, NC.
The organizational meeting is held the first meeting of December and elects the Chairman of the Board and Vice Chairman.
After the election, the Board is to consider items on the Consent Agenda which includes regular items such as budget amendments, Tax releases and refunds, and minutes of past meetings. The consent agenda also includes consideration of the Local Government General Records Retention schedule as required, a transfer of .275 acre at the Clearview Elementary School to ONWASA for a sewage pump station to benefit the school. The board is also set to consider Rules of Procedure for its operation as part of the Consent Agenda.
General Items include offers to purchase land owned by the County that is considered surplus, the review and approval of public officials and employee bonds, budget amendments to close out grant projects and consideration of a program for the Health Department to operate under the NC Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program.
As a result of the upcoming property revaluation process, the Board is asked to consider extending the annual tax listing period. The new valuation notices are to be mailed in late January and to save postage, the tax listing requirements will also be mailed at the same time. The traditional time for the tax listing to be completed is January 31 and the action to be considered by the Commissioners will extend that date to March 15, 2022.
