1. Where are you located?

Onslow County Animal Services is located at 244 Georgetown Rd. Jacksonville, NC

2. What are your operating hours?

Administrative Hours: Monday- Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Please call 910-937-1164 to speak with a staff member. 

Adoption Hours: Tuesday - Friday: Noon - 4:30pm  Saturday: 10:00am - 3:30 pm. An approved application is required for all adoptions. To view all adoptable animals, please visit our Adoptable Animals albums on our website: https://www.onslowcountync.gov/186/Animals To begin the application process, please click on the photo of an adoptable animal and click on the orange box. Applications may be completed and submitted online. Please monitor your email for approval, generally within 24 hours of receipt. Applications are general applications and are not specific to an animal. Only one application should be submitted. Once approved, please call 910-937-1164 after 8:00am Tuesday - Friday and after 10:00am to schedule an appointment.

For animal reclaim, surrender or all other questions, please call 910-937-1164 during administrative hours.

Our Rabies Vaccination Clinic is offered, by appointment, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Please call 910-937-1164 Tuesday-Friday to schedule. 

For Animal Control Emergencies or concerns, please call 910-455-0182 and select the option for dispatch. 

3. I would like to adopt. What is the process?

Thank you for choosing adoption!  To view all adoptable animals, please visit our website at https://www.onslowcountync.gov/186/Animals . Interested in adopting? Please call 910-937-1164 after 8:00am Tuesday - Friday and after 10:00am Saturday to schedule an appointment. Adoption appointments are available between 12:00pm and 3:30pm Tuesday - Friday and 10:30am to 3:30pm Saturday. During your appointment, you will be given time to interact with our animals to find the perfect fit. Staff is always happy to answer any questions you may have and try to assist you in finding a good match. Once you have selected your new furry family member, we will need you to complete an adoption contract. Cash and cards are accepted for adoption fee payment, and a valid drivers license/military ID is required. Adopters must be at least 18 years of age. Adoption fee for dogs over 6 months is $140 and includes core vaccinations, 30-day flea & tick treatment, basic dewormer, heartworm test, spay/neuter and microchip. Puppies under 6 months are $195. All cat/kitten adoptions are $50 and include core vaccinations, 30-day flea & tick treatment, basic dewormer, spay/neuter and microchip. Once the contract is complete, you may bring your new friend home!

4. What are the adoption fees?

Dog adoption fee, age 6 months and up: $140 Puppies under 6 months: $195  Cat/Kitten adoption fee: $50

Adoption fee for dogs and cats includes initial core vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchip.

Additional Adoption Fees:

Small Animals: $15 

Rabbits/Pot Belly Pigs: $25  Ferrets, Horses and Goats: $50 Non-fowl birds: $25 Fowl: $5.00    

Cash, credit and debit payments are accepted.

5. How do I volunteer?

Due to Covid-19, our volunteer program is currently suspended. Please keep an eye on the website as well as our Facebook page "Onslow County Animal Services" for any new information and changes.

6. Do you accept donations?

Onslow County Animal Services accepts a variety of donated items via direct shipment to the shelter at 244 Georgetown Road, Jacksonville NC 28540 or by no-contact drop-off (for your safety) during business hours. Please call 910-937-1164 for assistance.  For our wish list of most-needed items, please email: animalservices@onslowcountync.gov. We are grateful for all donations!

7. How can I become a foster?

OCAS is always looking for new fosters to help care for our shelter friends most in need. If you wish to become a foster, you may complete an application at the shelter, or request an application via email to OCASFOSTER@onslowcountync.gov

8. Do you provide vaccinations to the public?

OCAS provides a one-year rabies vaccination to the public every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by appointment. The cost is $10 which may be paid by cash or card. Animals must be at least 4 months of age.  A rabies tag and vaccination certificate will be provided. NC law requires a valid rabies tag to be worn on the collar.  

We do not provide any additional vaccinations or boosters.

9. Do you provide spay/neuter services to the public?
